why?

So, I got sick of painting all those greenskins and decided to start in on some marines. And I thought it would be a great idea to prime them with straight gesso, so the blue would look better. Big mistake. The straight gesso looks like crap, nowhere near as forgiving as the gesso mixed with paint.
