I think I mentioned a little while back that I was interested in joining Dreddit, the Reddit corporation in EVE.
Well, I hit my three-month mark in Reddit over the weekend, and applied on Sunday. Got accepted yesterday.
I haven’t done much yet… Set up some forum accounts and installed TeamSpeak and things like that, but nothing in-game. I’m going to have to move out to 0.0, and I’m a little apprehensive about that. I’ve never done much out in nullsec. The closest I ever got was the occasional PvP roam in EVE University, or hanging out in lowsec back in Veldspar International. This is going to be quite the adventure for me.
I haven’t been doing anything terribly interesting in EVE lately.
I’m splitting my skill training between an assortment of trade skills and working towards an Incursion-ready Maelstrom.
I’ve been popping in and running roughly one mission a night… Collecting my salvage… Storing it up for a shopping trip on the weekends… And I’ve also got PI running on a couple planets. The oxygen complex I set up a little while back is fully functional, but not terribly profitable The coolant complex I set up more recently is much more profitable.
But, for now, EVE is requiring a little more focus than I’ve got available. At the end of a rough day, I just want to escape into something fun and fluffy – not a heavy, dystopian paradise.
To that end, I’ve been playing some other games to let off steam in the evenings…
Finished training Long Range Targeting V over the weekend… Kind of disappointed with the results.
It only got me a few extra km of range. I can lock things about 90 km away now. I wanted to be able to target things well over 100 km away.
It looks like the only way I’m going to do that is with some kind of sensor booster… But that’ll take up a mid-slot. And I’m currently using those for my tank. Don’t really want to sacrifice anything in there.
Been farming the entrance to Worlds Collide for a few days now. It’s an easy way to make about 10 million ISK. I’m going to have to abandon that mission eventually… But, for now, it’s an easy run at the end of the day.
Targeting V finished up, I can now target up to 7 mobs. It’ll be handy for salvaging… But I don’t know that it’ll do much for my mission-running. I guess we’ll see…
I’ve got Long Range Targeting V training now. It’ll take about 9 days. Then I’ll be able to target things from a bit further away, which will be nice when I’m flying my Raven. As it is now, my missiles have a range of well over 100 km, but I can’t target things further than about 85 km out.
Tried Worlds Collide again last night… Don’t think I’m actually going to be able to finish this one anytime soon. Might have to abandon it and try something easier.
Warped-in and killed those groups of Angels and Sanshas easily enough… Then I hopped through the Angel jumpgate, to the next pocket.
There were a few turrets sitting right on top of the warp-in, which I killed just fine.
There were also two frigates sitting just a few thousand km off of the warp-in. They webbed me as soon as I arrived, and it’s a damn good thing that’s all they did. If I’d been scrambled I would have lost a ship last night.
I deployed my drones to take out those frigates… But, due to the way the frigates were orbiting, the drones kept getting aggro from the other pockets. The aggro didn’t carry back to me, but it was enough to kill a couple of my drones. And the remaining ones weren’t doing enough damage to take out the frigates.
I tried throwing missiles at them, but they were just too small and fast for my cruise missiles.
Then I got desperate and started throwing missiles at the nearest group of Angels. Figured I could take their aggro and deploy some extra drones. It worked well enough to kill off one of the frigates, but I was just taking too much damage from everyone else. Had to warp out.
Wound up having to replace one light T2 drone and one medium T2 drone… As well as doing some repairs on all the others. Not a huge price, but it definitely took a chunk out of the bounty payouts.
I’m going to clear out that first pocket again tonight, it’s easy and good money. But I’m not going to go any further. Maybe I’ll give the whole thing another try later on… But, for now, I’m just going to farm those first couple of spawns.
Minmatar Industrial V will finish training some time Saturday night. I’ll finally be able to fly a Prowler. They aren’t the biggest hauler… But they’re fast and stealthy, which will make me feel better about hauling goods though lowsec.
But the question then becomes – what will I train for next?
The obvious choice is to train towards a Golem, it’s what all the cool kids are using to run missions these days. And it does look like a mighty fine ship… But I’m not certain that is the best use of my training time at the moment.
I could put a couple more levels into Targeting or Salvaging, which would prove absurdly useful in many situations. I could train some of my missile or gun skills a bit higher. Or put some more time into my rigging skills.
