thud!
This has not been a good week for waking up…
Couldn’t shower this morning. The shower head was completely clogged with limescale. Of course, I didn’t know this at first… It just kind of sputtered and farted and dripped, and I was concerned that maybe a pipe had burst or something. So I spent a few minutes wandering around the basement and checking faucets to see what the problem was. At 6:00 in the morning.
Then I had to remove the shower head, locate some lime-a-way, get a bowl, and set the thing to soak. At 6:15 in the morning.
Got dressed, got some coffee, fed the cats, headed out the door for work…
And fell on my ass.
It snowed last night. There’s about an inch over everything… Heavy, wet, slushy stuff. Very slippery stuff, too. Made it about halfway to my car and then slipped and fell. So I drove in to work with a wet and sore butt.
Now that I’m here, things seem pretty busy… This slushy stuff has resulted in an accident or two. Came in to find three police cars and two ambulances in the parking lot. Plus, over the holidays, we get some admits from people who just don’t want to be home alone. So the inpatient unit is very busy, and a little frazzled, and calling about pretty much anything and everything that misbehaves.
On the up-side of things, it appears that last Monday was actually my last Monday at the hospital. I’ve wound up with a three-day weekend this week.
My new boss, D, isn’t going to be at work on Monday. Can’t say I blame him – anyone who’s able to will be taking the day off. And the main reason I’m showing up to work at this point is to answer his questions and get him trained… So there isn’t much point in me showing up for work. So – three day weekend!
