damn you Ithaqua!
It is freaking cold.
Last night my feet were literally aching from the cold. I was shivering and my teeth were chattering as I crawled into bed. It took almost an hour for me to stop feeling like there was ice slowly coursing through my veins.
The thermometer this morning indicated a temperature of 0°F – which seems too warm to me. The way the snow crunches and my coat crinkles makes me think it should be more like -459.67°F.
This is the part that I really hate about Winter… The cold.
Snow and ice are annoying. They mess with your visibility, they make driving hazardous, you have to wake up early to clear the driveway… But you can also have fun out in the snow. You can build snowmen and go skiing and things like that. If nothing else, it looks pretty.
But the cold is just plain unpleasant.
And once Winter sets in I find it damn near impossible to warm up again.
I have to wear long-sleeve shirts, usually with some kind of sweater or sweatshirt over them. And thick, wooly socks. And even in the safety of my own house there’s usually a cool draft blowing from somewhere.
Then I’ll finally start warming up… Finally start feeling human again… And it will be time to go back out in the cold.
