chilling
A little while back we rented Chill from one of those RedBox machines.
I don’t recall if I posted much on here about Chill… But it was a truly horrible movie. It was supposed to be based, at least loosely, on a story by H.P. Lovecraft. But about the only thing they got right was the fact that the spooky Doctor liked air conditioning.
In the original story, the horrific bit was the eventual realization that the Doctor was actually undead. Chill attempted to turn the story into some kind of slasher movie, with people dying left and right.
But it wasn’t just the adaptation of the original story that sucked… The acting was wooden and unconvincing. And the cinemetography was just plain awful. Lots of long, lingering shots of people just like of staring past the camera.
Obviously not the kind of movie that I’d want to purchase.
But, apparently, we just did. Got an email from RedBox last night informing us that the full price of the movie had been charged to our credit card because we never returned it.
Now, I’m pretty sure we did return the movie… There’s certainly no reason we’d hold on to it. But it’s fairly hard to prove that. They’re just automatic vending machines, it isn’t like there’s a real human who might have seen you return the movie, who might recognize you.
I can only assume that we fed the movie back in and the machine simply didn’t register it for some reason… Maybe the bar code was scratched or obscured somehow…
But, what really sucks, is that we’re being charged for such an awful movie.
