On the Today Show this morning they’re talking about the price of gas…  Apparently the national average is $3.99 a gallon right now.  We’ve been paying $4.20 a gallon for weeks now.

I really wonder how high the prices are going to go.  At some point people are simply not going to be able to afford to keep fueling up their cars.  We’re already seeing a decrease in SUV sales, and hybrids are becoming increasingly popular.  But if prices continue the way they are not even hybrids will be cheap enough.

How long until people get genuinely fed-up with our oil-based energy economy?  How long until there is a real, concerted effort to utilize alternative fuels?
