Today was kind of a bust…

Wound up stuck out on-site at one of my least favorite clients today.  They were having trouble with one of their laptops.  They somehow managed to pick up some kind of rootkit/keylogger.   Their antivirus did a decent job of neutralizing it, but killed Internet Explorer in the process.  So I spent the whole freaking day pulling out traces of malware and replacing broken bits of Windows.

Normally we’d like to bring a laptop like that back to the shop for work.  Ripping out malware is usually a fairly long and tedious process, and it’s nice to do it back at the shop so we can do other things while the scans run.  But they didn’t want their laptop to leave the building.  They wanted it fixed right there on site.  So I was there, all day long, watching scans run…

To make matters even better I was perched on a very uncomfortable stool the entire time.  My ass went numb about halfway through the day.  My butt, neck, and back are all sore at this point.

Still, it wasn’t a complete loss…  It’s St. Patrick’s Day!

We had corned beef and cabbage for dinner, with potatoes and soda bread, and a bottle of Guinness to wash it all down.  And for desert we had a delicious cake in the shape of a pot of gold, with mint-chip ice cream, and a glass of absinthe.  Good stuff.

I’m hoping that we can find one of the Leprechaun movies on TV tonight.
