upgrade complete
Just finished the upgrade to WordPress 2.1… Not sure if I’m liking it or not. The whole thing is certainly faster and more responsive, but some of the changes leave a bit to be desired.
Links are now listed under “blogroll” rather than links… And they’re handled differently now, too. Links used to be stored in their own categories that could have rules applied to them – like showing a random selection of 10 links instead of absolutely everything.
The post editor doesn’t seem to be quite as WYSIWYG as it used to be… It’s now tabbed, which makes it easier to switch between visual and code editing, which is a good thing, because there’s no obvious way to add a link in visual mode.
Looks like I’m going to have to play around with the software some, see how to make it do what I want again.
new version!
Looks like WordPress 2.1 is now available. Being the update junky that I am, I’ll be updating my blog just as soon as I can. Hooray for bigger version numbers!

street fighting robots
From Slashdot:
“There’s no better way to assure the eventual destruction of mankind then by the event sponsored by Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency. Newscientist has a good writeup of the robot challenge, which is to build a robot that can operate autonomously in urban warfare conditions, moving in and out of buildings to search and destroy targets like a human soldier.”
burning crusaders
I spent most of the weekend playing WoW, exploring the new expansion. I’ve seen a good amount of Outlands now – I thoroughly explored the Hellfire Peninsula and about half of Zangarmarsh. I’ve run through a couple instances, done tons of quests, and leveled my warlock up to 62. And, so far, I’m quite happy with it.
noob, redux
Today I finally actually played around with the new stuff in Burning Crusade. I rolled up a Draenei shaman as soon as I had the expansion installed, and wandered around the starter area for a while…made it to level 5… But that’s really been it for the last day or two. I didn’t even bother trying to do stuff in Outland – I figured it’d be too crowded and laggy to accomplish anything.
