how many steps back?
I’m really starting to get very frustrated with the whole house-buying thing. Every time it seems like we’ve taken a step forward, we find out we still haven’t gotten anywhere. I mentioned not too long ago that the owners of the co-op had all decided to convert the place into a condo, and we were just basically waiting for it to happen. We were thrilled, it looked (once again) like we’d be getting that nice house on Lorraine street after all. Once again we were excited, once again we started making plans for the house.
Tonight, not too long ago in fact, we got a call from our realtor. Apparently somebody has offered to pay the owners cash for their co-op unit. They’re willing to buy it as-is, as a co-op, and do the condo conversion thing themselves. Since it may take as long as a year for the condo conversion to go through, the current owners are understandably very excited about getting rid of the place sooner as opposed to later - they’ve already bought a new house, they want to get out of this place, they want their money.
So, once again, we don’t know if we’re going to be able to get that house or not. Once again all the plans we were making are up in the air. Once again our hopes and excitement have proven premature. I’m really starting to wonder if the Lorraine Street house is worth it… We’ve been looking at other places in the mean-time, seeing if there’s anything else we like… So far there hasn’t been. In fact, the more we look at other places the better I like the house on Lorraine Street. But I’m really starting to wonder if it is worth all this trouble.
