I’ve been looking forward to this weekend for quite some time now. I’ve been working a lot lately, all sorts of odd schedules, and I’ve been lucky to get a single day off. I haven’t had a weekend off, or even two days in a row, in quite some time. This weekend I somehow managed to get four days off in a row.
So, yesterday, we did most of the celebratory stuff. We went out to dinner and a movie, we exchanged presents, stuff like that. Today we reserved for just lazing about the house. I didn’t even put on a pair of shoes today - I spent the day wandering around the house in my slippers! We did, however, wind up attending a Caer Sidi raid with the rest of our guild.
Back before we were members of Legion I remember seeing the entire guild attend a raid in matching colors. I was so impressed at that display of guild pride. We were members of the BlackHeart Pirates at the time, and while I have nothing against that guild, it certainly didn’t inspire a whole lot of pride. We didn’t do much of anything together as a guild. I was so impressed seeing several full groups of Legion folks at that raid, all in matching gear… I think that was when I made my mind up about Legion, I knew I had to at least apply.
Well, today I finally had the opportunity to participate in a similar event. All the Legion folks showed up in “costume” - we were wearing Royal Orange and Black armor. Everyone was dyed in some combination of royal orange and black. I went a step further - I dressed my Dwarven Warrior as a caster. I showed up wearing a steeple hat and caster’s robes. It was great fun raiding with everyone, getting to play with the guild again, I’ve been missing that. I really can’t wait until WoW goes live and we can get more of the guildies over there. I can’t wait until Bert is leading raids on something impressive in WoW.

Two years ago today I made the single best decision in my entire life - I made you my wife. In all honestly, I can’t imagine what life would be like without you. You make every day worth living. No matter how rough life gets, and we’ve been through some very rough times, I always know I can get through it because I’ve got you by my side. I love you Terri, with all my heart.

Looks like the WoW closed beta is coming to an end. I’m a bit sad to see it end, since I’ve been having a lot of fun and getting somewhat attached to my characters. However, this means that the open beta will be starting soon, and then retail not long after that. I can’t wait to get into the real game, to play with my friends again, to really be able to get into the game and make some progress.
Unfortunately… I’ve got the next four days off, and I was really looking forward to spending some time playing WoW over the weekend. I wanted to see if Terri and I could get a group in the Wailing Caverns. I guess that won’t be happening…

Last time I played WoW I got into a pretty lousy group that was attempting to do some hunting in the Wailing Caverns. It did not end well, and I wound up logging out shortly after making a corpse run back to the instance. When I logged back in today I received an interesting message…

Apparently I somehow managed to log in to some other group’s instance. Rather than wait for the teleport, I got the brilliant idea to try fighting my way out. I made it out of the instance, but not much further. I’d forgotten just how many level 17 elites were guarding the entrance to the instance… I killed a few, but ultimately wound up dying. I should have just taken the teleport…

Some interesting side-effects of the new patch…
My characters are all appearing nude in the character select screen. I’ve logged several of them in and checked their equipment…and they are indeed clothed. However, no equipment is showing up on the character select screen. Trust me, you don’t really want to see undead characters naked.
Additionally, the patch file I downloaded refuses to be deleted. It keeps insisting that some program is still using that file, despite the fact that I’ve got absolutely no programs running at all. Very annoying. I’ve got 280MB of useless patch file stuck on my HDD and apparently no way to rid myself of it…
I can now press the “sheathe” key repeatedly to display different equipped weapons. For example, I can sheathe everything and run around with my hands empty…or I can have my bow sheathed and my axe in my hands…or I can have my axe sheathed and my bow in my hands… Fairly useless, from what I’ve seen, but a nice bit of fluff nonetheless.
